Day 156. Today I got a HP printer paper jam error (but no paper jam)
In the morning, I needed to make some printouts from the Internet, and after starting the printer, I received a paper jam error. For your information, I have an old HP C5183 printer, and it is nearly impossible to find spare parts for it unless you look for donor devices. While gears or fasteners can be printed on a 3D printer, moving parts or a print head cannot be replicated.
Overall, my plans were disrupted, and I began searching for information on how to repair my printer without sending it to a repair shop, as my budget does not allow for such expenses.
After browsing YouTube, I found a video on disassembling and assembling a similar printer. I also reviewed many instructions and tips on forums, which provided a wealth of useful information. I’m glad I studied this before starting the disassembly.
By the evening, the printer was completely disassembled. I laid out all the parts across the room in the order of assembly. Then I checked the gears and all the moving parts but found nothing wrong. So I decided to inspect all the disassemblable components and discovered the cause of the problem! The spring in the ink collection system from the print head had come off, causing the mechanism to jam. I put the spring back in place, and tomorrow I will reassemble the entire unit.
