Day 27. We should also consider selling domains
The website development has been completed, the footer is fully done, and all articles have been added to the required blocks. However, during the filling out process, some previously forgotten information suddenly came to light. After all, which hosting service does not selling domains?
I completely forgot about this initially, as I had not planned out which domains we will sell, and at what prices, even though our registrar is already known. Today, we are working on domains and Google Docs. I have chosen key domain extensions that will be suitable for bloggers, designers, web developers, and testers who are starting their careers. Our hosting packages are tailored for beginners. We are offering good technical characteristics and many additional bonuses for a successful project launch and development.
We have created a separate page on our website with a list of domains. Since we do not have a WHMCS license and will be selling domains manually, the issue of markups and price recalculations will not be as crucial. We have decided to set a 20% markup on the cost for our basic list of domains.
Upon the client’s request, we can register any domain with a 20% markup, and if there is a promotion or current discount on the day, the client will receive a good offer. There is is a common belief among hosting company owners. You will not make much profit from domains if you focus on a wide range of servers. Domain sales require separate skills and strategies.
However, providing clients with a choice is essential: whether to make a purchase, transfer, or simply compare domain prices. Therefore, we will offer domains with a small markup. And since everything will now be done manually, we will always be informed about the latest trends in price changes. This may be more challenging to do in the WHMCS panel. It would require monitoring all prices and making changes whenever there are promotions or price increases.
